Chakra Chant: Heart (Seed Syllable YAM)

Music by Kathleen Karlsen

Lyrics: Yam

Meaning:

The fourth chakra is the heart chakra or the Anahata chakra. In Sanskrit, Anahata means "unhurt, unstruck, unbeaten". At the same time, Anahata means "pure" or "clean". As the seat of love and devotion, the heart expresses compassion, charity and kindness. The heart is also a focus for beauty and culture.

The energy of this chakra integrates opposite forces or brings two parts together. The energy of this chakra is symbolized by a twelve petal lotus with interlocking triangles in the center. This is a depiction of yin and yang or male and female. The seed syllable for the heart chakra is YAM (yum). The vowel associated with this chakra is AH. The Sargam syllable is MA. The core energy for this chakra is devotion.
